A woman with blinkered view of the world, finds herself a fish out of water when locked out of her house for the night. A 10 minute drama set in Portsmouth with support from the local council and authorities.

About this production

This was a dissertation piece produced by three students for our film production degree. Myself (director), Rachel (producer / writer) and camera op (Anthony) were not prepared for how difficult it would be to make.

It was written in 2006, we pitched it in April 2007 and so ensued a year of pre-production in which the project just grew and grew to a giant cast and even bigger crew. We love a challenge, so we filmed it in Portsmouth… at night… in the streets….in February. Our biggest cost was hot food for the crew, and big fluffy socks.

We were lucky because the weather was very still and very clear for all three nights we shot, starting at 6pm when the sun went down, to 3am. Our main actress Sarah was a last minute stand in due to complications, and she was amazing, having come straight from work at 6pm, acting all night and getting up for work at 7am.

On the last night, filming ended at 3am, just in time to catch the lunar eclipse. And the end result…was the film perfect? No, but we learnt so much and are looking forward to putting it all into the next big production. Watch this space.
